Mark and his parents

Thursday was a glorious day. The sun was shining and so I went for a walk and a cup of tea at The Kettle Sings Cafe. The view of Malvern from the cafe is amazing and I would reccommend everyone to visit there.

On return my parents came to see me at The Oaks. They come every week and my mum always brings me sweets and treats.

My plans for Friday are to tidy my room and then get out and about in the afternoon.

The weather is supposed to be great again for the weekend so I am looking forward to that!

Mark Callaghan

Hello to you all!

My name is Mark and I have been living at The Oaks for 6 years now. I want to share with you all a little bit about my life!

Last weekend we had amazing weather. I went to snoozelem on Saturday morning, which is a fabulous sensory unit. In the afternoon I went for a walk to the Malvern Hills.

The weather was even better on Sunday so I spent the day out, enjoying the local car boot sales, refreshments at the local cafes and a walk around Worcester.

On Monday I went to the Malvern theatres as bowling was far too busy with the half term break!! On Tuesday I went out shopping as I needed various things for myself.

Ellen's Nail Art.

These are my nails I had painted on Wednesday.

Today I have spent the morning shopping. On Thursday afternoon's I spend time on my computer.

I have had an enjoyable week. I still have lots to do. I have booked a trip to London in June to go and see Mamma Mia and I need to get a passport form ready to book a holiday abroad.

Tomorrow I am going to my Mum's for the weekend as it is my birthday on Sunday. I am coming back to The Oaks on Monday and I am not sure if I am supposed to know this..... but I am having a birthday party at The Oaks when I get back.

Ellen's Pamper Day!

Wednesday was a pamper day for myself and Jane. We all went to the top lounge and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We had drinks and girly chats. I had a facial and face massage and generally enjoyed just lying out on the sofa to relax. I also had my nails filed and painted. I chose pink nails and had some butterfly stencils put on my nails too.

Ellen Dancing!

On Tuesday afternoon I had planned to tidy my bedroom. I started to tidy my room but got side tracked when my music was on and had a dance instead!!!!

Tuesday Was A Rainy Day!

On Tuesday the weather was horrible!

It pretty much rained all day. I went to coffee morning at the local church. I go there every week to help the elderly people during their meetings.

Ellen's Monday Afternoon.

On Monday afternoon I had a dentist appointment. Just before the appointment the dentist telephoned me to say the appointment was cancelled- Donna snapped my response as she told me!!! So instead of that I relaxed and listened to some music. The dentist has rescheduled but I'm not going to worry about that until the time comes.

Our Manager Designate.

Christine is our new Acting Manager.

Christine has settled in very well and all of the staff and service users are extremely pleased to have her here at The Oaks.

Over the last week everyone has been extremely busy. Mark and Hugh have been bowling, to Snoozelem and have also now booked their holiday. They are going to a log cabin in South Wales. The other service users have been thinking about there holiday's and forthcoming trips too. Some are planning theatre trips to London and others are visiting places of cultural interest personal to them. Generally, it has been a busy week for everyone! It has been raining for most of the week though, so we have all been glad to have lots to do to keep our minds off the weather!!!

The Malvern Hills

As you are probably aware, Malvern is probably most famous for the hills and the spring water!!

With the glorious sunshine we have had lately, some of the service users thought it would be nice to go for a walk up the Malvern Hills.

Here, Jane, Mark and Graham were snapped taking a quick break half way up!!!!

Recycling- Mark Callaghan

A while ago the service users decided they wanted to make a big effort to recycle. We talked about the types of things we could recycle and were amazed by how much stuff we throw away that can actually be recycled!!!

This week Mark and John were in charge of recycling.

Doreen recieving her presents!

Doreen herself had a few too many glasses of wine!!! She loved her gifts and cards and gave a lovely speech. Doreen had asked party guests if they would donate money to Acorns Childrens Hospice in Worcester rather than buy her gifts, and I am very pleased to say we raised over £100.00 on the day and are still expecting more donations!

So thank you to everyone for their donations and Goodbye and Good Luck to Doreen!!!!

At the party......

The drinks were flowing, the food was fantastic and a great time was had by all. The music was provided by a gentleman called Wesley and we enjoyed karaoke singing from John Morris and others.
