Snow White Panto!



Service Uses Jane, Ellen and Peter on Tuesday went to see 
Snow White Panto at Malvern Theatres, It was enjoyed by all.

Mulled Wine & Mince Pie Morning

MP Joins festive fun at The Oaks!


Malvern's MP got into the festive spirit as she joined residents and staff at a district care home.

Harriet Baldwin visited The Oaks to take part in their Christmas Celebrations.

She said: "I was delighted to be invited to meet with residents and family members at The Oaks and hear about the great work going on there".

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their hard work over the years helping to provide an important service to our local community".

"As we all wind down for Christmas, I think it is important to take time to remember those less fortunate than ourselves and take time to recognise their round the clock efforts to make life easier for residents and their families."

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs




Peter, Ellen and Jane are all going to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on 17th December '13 at Malvern Theatres, The magical family pantomime Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs this Christmas! 

Starring Sue Holderness as the Wicked Queen, best know as Marlene in Only Fools and Horses and Chris Pizzey as Muddles, best know as Mr Stephen in The Basil Brush Show! 

We hope Peter, Ellen and Jane enjoyed it!

Carnaby Street




John and Jane are both going to see Carnaby Street on 21st November '13 at Malvern Theatres, is a Stunning Musical, set against the backdrop of London's West End in the Sixties.

The famous cubs, trendy fashions and eccentric characters, at the time full of hope and freedom, when the world is changing and anything seems possible.

We hope John and Jane enjoyed it!


Sensational 60's

Jane and John both went to see Sensational 60's on 24th October '13 at Malvern Theatres, The Show had a number of well known bands such as The Marmalade, Chris Farlowe and Herman's Hermits.

John and Jane appeared to of enjoyed it!

Peter's Hydrotherapy Session


Peter has been going to a Hydrotherapy session for the past few months at Osbourne Court, Peter appears to of been enjoying himself there especially the Jacuzzi but is now on a Summer Break there and will be returning in September.

Afternoon Tea for 2

Back in June the Service Users attended a Afternoon Tea in Bewdley with Reach, which is a service which provides activites and events for people with learning disabilities. We would like to share some of those photos with you

Everybody at The Oaks would like to congratulate Liam in his success in becoming a new Team Leader.


Liam joined The Oaks in April 2012 and has worked his way up from Support Worker, Person in Charge, Acting Team Leader and now finally Team Leader.

Read All About It

Jane and John go to a Drama Group at Malvern Cube on a Wednesday, throughout the term they practise a Performance to show at the end of the term. We would like to share some of the pictures of the performance called "Read all about it"





The Oaks Go To Dudley Zoo

29th January the Service Users went on a Service Users Trip and went to Dudley Zoo, The Service Users enjoyed the day and also went for Lunch to the a nice pub.


Darren Leaving

We are sad to say that Darren has left us at The Oaks for a new exciting job opportunity and we wish him every success in him new job but Darren will still be Bank Staff so he will be back!

John's Holiday


This summer John went on holiday to Snowdonia for a week with Liam, John went to a number of places including Portmerion, Barmouth and Carmarthen and visited Towns, Beaches and Castles.




John loved his holiday and had so much fun going on Day Trips, Meals out and a Day at the Beach.

Ellen & Jane's Holiday


This summer Ellen and Jane went on Holiday to Crete in May for a week, where they stayed in a small Greek town where they tried local delicacies such as olives, feta cheese and fresh oranges.






They loved their holiday and had so much fun going on down to the village were they bought fresh bread everyday, going to the beach and also going for meals out.

Peter & Mark's Holiday

This summer Mark & Peter went on Holiday to Devon in May for a week, where they stayed in a cottage with a large lake around it and also went with Maureen and Kate.


They loved there holiday and had so much fun going on Day Trips, Meals out and a Day at the Beach.

Garden Party

Part of National Care Home Open Day, The Oaks invited a number of people such as Care Homes across Worcestershire. Professional Bodies which we use and finally Service Users Friends and Families. 

A great day, enjoyed by everyone who came. We will look forward to seeing you all next year.

Donna... 10 Years On!

In May 2013, Donna celebrated 10 years of being at The Oaks.


Donna first started as at The Oaks as a Support Worker then quickly become a Team Leader, After a few years of team leading, Donna became Assistant Manager and then Quickly became Manager.

We would like to congratulate Donna of her achievement and wish her all the best in her forthcoming years at The Oaks.

Worcestershire Challenging Behaviour Strategy Team


The Oaks works with Worcestershire C
hallenging Behaviour Strategy Team part of Worcestershire Social Services, Their job is to make sure that homes across Worcestershire meet the standards required by the Challenging Behaviour Team for new and current placements.

Challenging Behaviour Team met with The Oaks in February to review the progress of Standards. We are proud to announce that The Oaks have met the standards required.


Lead Psychologist for Worcestershire conducted the review and commented

"We have been extremely impressed by The Oaks, and the service they manage. They should be considered as able to support people with the most complex challenges." The team also added "Their positivity and motivation certainly deserve a green rating".

Donna, Home Manager at The Oaks was delighted with the review and commented


"We have such a consistent and motivated team of staff that support Service Users with all of their needs and we will continue to provide a high quality service to current and prospective Service Users ensuring we promote their independence and individuality".

Jane's Holiday To Lanzarote


Jane, Maddy and Roger all jetted off to Lanzarote on the 14th February and stayed at the 4 star Lanzarote Princess where they enjoyed a week in the Spanish Sun.


On Arrival they were greeted with Champagne and Treats in their hotel room, then after went to sample the local delights in the hotel restaurants and also restaurants in the old town.


On other days they just took it easy by lounging by the Pool and topping up the tan. Everyone at The Oaks was well jealous of the gorgeous tan they all came back with!


The Oaks Next Service Users Trip...

Service Users have decided to go to The Black Country Museum in Dudley for their next Service Users Trip on the 23rd April. 

All the Service Users are looking forward to going, So watch out for the Pictures on the Blog.

Ellen & Jane's New Arts & Craft Sessions

Make your Mark is a new and exciting Arts & Crafts Group Jane & Ellen attend at Malvern Theatres.

They create marbling to mosaics, creative therapy offers the chance to work in a medium of creative ways, varying from print work, painting, drawing, crafts, collages and much more with a lady called Bridget who has much experience in creative therapy.

Jane and Ellen enjoying theses session very much and always look forward to going every week.

The Hollies Tour

Jane, John and Ellen have booked Tickets to go and see The Hollies Live at Malvern Theatres on Thursday 11th April, During their two hour show, The Hollies will perform their Classic Hits, including – The Air That I Breathe, Carrie Anne, Stop Stop Stop. Bus Stop, Long Cool Woman, Look Through Any Window, I’m Alive, Just One Look On A Carousel, He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, and many more. They are all looking forward to this event.

Joseph And The Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat

John, Ellen and Jane on 28th Febraury went to Keith Jack in Joseph And The Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat at Malvern Theatres, This is a Bill Kenwright Production made famou by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours. and has be rated as “Amazing”, “Superb”, “Wonderful” and “Brilliant” on Reviews.
 
John, Ellen and Jane, All enjoyed it very much and also had a snaeaky drink in the interval before returning to the finally half of the musical.

Snowy at The Oaks
